so haunting
He loved her so much ❤
i’m glad to see from all the other comments that i’m not the only one who still thinks about this scene
This scene randomly came to my mind, I am 31 but I still feel like that little girl watching the secret garden and this will forever be echoing in my thoughts ❤ whoever reads this God bless you
I cried when he finally went in the garden
I’m 37 and this ethereal film still means as much to me, as it did watching it round my Nana’s house as a little girl on vhs 📼
Ahh you too huh? My grandmother would put this on for me when i was little. Usually if i was sick or feeling sad. It's just a good film. I remember this scene being enigmatic yet beautiful all kinda combined together.
The echoing of "I'm in the garden" has echoed in my mind since 1993. Kind of a weird thing how it pops to the forefront of the mind, too. Someone could ask where you are and it's this joke of an answer, but it's always only in the mind where the answer stays. And then a chuckle to myself because the next memory that comes to mind from that movie is often "I'll box your ears" - language I first and only ever heard from that movie haha. I've literally not seen the move again and it's now been 30 years. Crazy.
Irene jacob played both ladies
Ahhh❤😭😭😭😭😭
She still is pregnant
This film was a different level of weird
This scene is so ethereal. I can’t watch this movie now without crying through like, the whole thing.
Finally reunited after years if being lost
first
The best scene ever filmed … like a dream
Zbigniew’s music was a major part of what makes this movie so good.
From a spiritual perspective. She is in the Astral realm visiting his dream… Her spirit soul is helping him remember & guide him back to his son through his anguish & sadness. Mary is the reincarnation of her, who is her own Mother’s twin sister. The garden represents nature, Earth anagram for Heart. Also rebirth, a spiritual awakening from death to life through growth & healing back to one’s purest essence & inner child.
Bullshite load of hooey no such thing as reincarnation
Doesn't Martha's mother ask Lord Craven come back to home writing letter to him in novel, instead children's magical summon with campfire in movie?
Oh can't wait for my little Lily to be old enough to watch this and know that her parents love like this 🥰 beautiful music and just so magic 🥰
I'm 32 now, remember watching this as a kid as well. Just had a dream this morning and I've been hearing "I'm in the garden!" in my brain, unsure of what it was from. I searched it in RUclips and found this video! Wow, there's gotta be something to that, how visceral it was that even as youngsters it left a lasting impression on us. I didn't understand a lot in the film, but I understood it was significant, full of emotion. True art for me has a way of expressing the suffering and the joy in the human life, and this film did that
In school we get a Pantomime every year.. This year we got to watch 2!! Wich was fun!! They did The Secret Garden.. Since then I love watching this movie!! Also they made the Pantomime like this!!
I love this scene! Love the music and the echoing. Did anyone ever notice at the way end of the movie when mary is talking and they show a girls hand moving the water with the lily pads, when they show the girl running right before they show the credits...I think.the girl is supposed to be Mary's aunt. It's a girl in white with dark.brown hair
De)iivdf
Green sleeves by the maids is also amazing
Lady: Archieeeee, archieeeeee!!! Man: whatshdjdidnshshsjs (mumble) Lady: gardeeeeeen, im in the gardeeeeeen
What’s the name of the music in the background
There's actually a theory that Mary's mother was cold and distant to her because she was a reminder. If you remember, Mary has a dream of being "abandined" as a baby in a garden by her mother. But in that scene, the look on her mother's face seems to say "Don't worry, I'll be back." Because it wasn't a dream. It was a long ago memory. Mary was remembering the day her Aunt (her mother's identical twin sister) died feom falling off a swing and gave birth to her cousin Colin. And after that, Mary's mother couldn't bare to look at her own daughter, for she was a constant reminder of the day her beloved twin sister died.
So after Colin’s mom gave birth she died after ouch
I never thought of it like that, I just thought her mum had depression
I have been looking for this clip. This used to make me feel a sadness so deep and as a child it heavily affected me! There's something so tragic about it!
What year was this from? I thought it was 1993, but I watched something else called The Secret Garden and it wasn't this. Whatever I watched was kind of crappy. I remember watching this movie as a kid, and this is the only scene I could remember. So now I'm trying to find this version, because I'm going to see a play of The Secret Garden in a week or so. Can someone tell me what year this was from?
This scene was from 1993 version so you were right.
@@stephanieray3227 Thanks. I found a different one that said it was from 1993 but it wasn’t this one it was some crappier version, but I ended up finding this one. I wanted to watch it again because I’m seeing a live version (a play) of it in a week. Thanks again!
What did we ever do to deserve Roger Deakins?
Fog last night at bottom of my garden brought me here , beautiful scene
This is so nostalgic... I remember watching this during 6th grade or even f urther before 5th grade. I remember our teacher Mrs morton put this on. I can't remember why she put it on I think it was just to watch it but this sure brings back memories of my youth. This part is one of my favourite parts, the music melody does well in making the viewer feel like their lost in a mysterious place surrounded by fog. Isolated from the rest or the world. Untainted and secret. I wish I had a time machine to go back to my previous self.... although I went through a lot I'd rather be there. Just so I can relive these moments. Films like these kept me sane. Old but a lot of deep meaning. With amazing orchestra and soundtracks. You can just listen to the music alone in movies such as this and you can almost picture the scene in your head without having any content shown. Truly magical this movie. 🥰
I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid maybe 15 years ago. But this specific scene has ran through my mind at different points in all those years. I just searched "I'm in the garden" to see if I could find it and watch it to see if I remembered it correctly and it turns out I have.
The most memorable part in the film.
This scene creeped me out so much when I was little lol
Colin mum was very pretty
This still remains to be one of my favorite films of all time. I recently watched the 2020 remake, but it is no where near as good or emotional as this version ❤️
It was Coppola so it’s going to be amazing 🤩
387 far better than simple 7! I’m in the garden!
In the Garden of His Heart.
Its so appropriate since he built the garden specifically for her and she's "there" always
Someone help me out..for YEARS I've been searching for a scene in one of the versions where the mother was on the swing in one of the Archie's dreams. She was pregnant and i wanna say they even depicted a dip or dent in the spot where she fell.. There are so many versioms tho and ive checked the 75, 87, and i think this one but i can't find that scene. Does anyone else remember this or am I tripping?
Reminds me of my dog Archie who died nearly 3 years ago, sometimes can hear myself in my mind calling to him like that! When he was alive I'd call to him to actually be obedient!
I am now 34 years old and this still gives me goosebumps
My sisters 34 too. I’m 26 but remember watching this with her aswell as my other siblings. It was a beautiful moment
31. Still remember watching it on VHS. This is powerful magic
Funny I'm 34 and use this a one hell of a drunk joke
This whole movie and I have a certain bond.
This scene is really haunting, it was my favourite from the film... the images and the distorted voices... really very well done.
IM IN THE GARDENNN WITH COLIN COLIN COLINNNN this scene and the I’m NoT SoUr are legit a meme in my house 😂 it’s a legendary movie for sure
I saw this movie as a kid, 30 years of age now, and this scene and the words "I'm in the Garden - I'm in the Garden" have been etched into my brain. Such a beautiful and dark masterpiece all at once.
The most exciting scene. I loved it when they cast the spell and the way she calls out to him from the garden as a child. A movie I will cherish forever.
I'm so happy to read these comments and see people found this as beautiful as what I did. My man doesnt seem to understand the emotional depth to this film. I feel like this scene sums up so much emotion and in barely a minute! So powerful
The entire movie, but this scene in particular left an imprint on me that has stuck with me all my life. As a 30+ masculine male, this movie used to get me in a ball of emotions as a child, and even after revisiting it tonight I was the same. Amazing how something can stick with you so long and still have the same effect.
Thank you
Lol, "I'm in the Garden" is my response all the time still. This scene and the way the response is repeated burned into my mind as a child.
